Reflectance of needles of Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii) measured in the laboratory. The blue-green needles were stacked in a sample cup and the head of the spectrometer fiber optic cable was passed over the needles. The vegetation was sampled in Yellowstone National Park and kept in a plastic bag, on ice, for four days until measured. As a result of the long period of storage, some water loss and pigment degradation may have occurred by the time of measurement. IMAGE_OF_SAMPLE: none
