"Results of petrographic examination: Hand sample is composed of two fragments, each about 2cm x 2cm x 1cm. About one third of each is host rock on which the rhodonite crystals grow. This was removed by sawing to free pure rhodonite. Under petrographic microscope, many other grains show a small degree of alteration (not identified)." Salisbury, J. W., Walter, L.
